Adelaide - Two British nurses, who had been jailed in Saudi Arabia for the murder of an Australian colleague, yesterday paid a $1.1 million settlement to the victim's brother, their lawyers in Australia and Saudi Arabia said.

Australian solicitor, Mr Michael Burnett, said he had received final authorisation for payment from nurses Deborah Parry (39) and Lucille McLauchlan (32). Mr Frank Gilford, whose sister Yvonne was murdered in Saudi Arabia in December 1996, agreed to the payment in October in exchange for waiving his right to press for the death penalty.
