A strike due to begin at the Riversdale Nursing Home in Palmerstown, Co Dublin, today has been deferred. SIPTU agreed to suspend the strike threat when the owner of the home, Mr James Bailey, agreed to attend the Labour Relations Commission. Talks are due to begin today.
The 22 women concerned are seeking pay parity with their counterparts in the Eastern Health Board. They are also seeking improved holiday leave and a shorter working week.
