David O'Leary will not be punished for his outburst at match officials during last weekend's match with Chelsea, the Football Association said today.
The Leeds United manager was banished to the stands by referee Paul Durkin after angrily reacting to a two-footed challenge from Chelsea's Graeme Le Saux on Danny Mills.
O'Leary was insistent he did not use foul and abusive language towards either Durkin or Sharp, although was seen to be incandescent with rage, both on the touchline and in the tunnel.
It was an explosive incident for which Le Saux, Chelsea captain on the day in the absence of the injured Marcel Desailly, has since apologised to Mills, who was left with raking stud marks down his thigh.
Durkin, having watched a replay of what unfolded, has now realised he made a mistake and that Le Saux should have been dismissed, although the FA have again underlined the fact they cannot now act in hindsight.
