Former Tanaiste Michael O'Leary, now a District Court judge, has rejoined the Labour Party. His photograph is to be hung with the other former leaders, going back to Jim Larkin and James Connolly, in the new Labour meeting room on the lower floor of Leinster House 2000. He will be slotted in between Frank Cluskey (1977-81) and Dick Spring (1982-97). Current leader Ruairi Quinn has taken the opportunity to halt the purge of O'Leary, which followed his move to Fine Gael in 1982.
