Mícheál Ó'Muircheartaigh will lead this year's St Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin as Grand Marshal.
Mr O' Muircheartaigh was given the honour by the chairman of the Festival, Ms. Mary Davis, in recognition and appreciation of his unique contribution to Irish culture.
His unmistakable voice and insightful commentaries on Gaelic football and hurling matches have entertained audiences for more than 20 years.
The commentator said he was delighted to be leading the parade. "Be sure to come out on the day and wave hello - I'll be the man up the front, " he said.
Over 500,000 people are expected to line the festival parade route this year, with more than six million watching on television in Ireland and around the world.
More than 3,000 participants will take part in the parade, which has "Legendary" as its theme. It kicks off at Parnell Square North at midday before travelling down O'Connell Street and ending at St. Patrick's Cathedral.
