Joe O'Reilly (35) has been transferred to the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise to begin a life sentence for the murder of his wife Rachel in October 2004.
The Dublin man was found guilty by the unanimous verdict of an 11-member jury at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin on Saturday following 21 days of evidence.
Amid emotional scenes in court, Judge Barry White sentenced O'Reilly to the mandatory life sentence for murdering his wife at the family home in Naul, Co Dublin, on October 4th 2004.
The judge refused leave to appeal, but his defence has two weeks to lodge an appeal against this ruling to the Court of Criminal Appeal.
