Snooker:Ronnie O'Sullivan has been fined almost £21,000 for walking out midway through a UK Championship game.
The two-time world champion dramatically conceded his quarter-final match against Stephen Hendry in December after missing a red when 4-1 behind.
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association came down hard on the 31-year-old at a disciplinary hearing today, docking him 900 ranking points and £4,050 prize money from the tournament in question.
They also imposed a further fine of £11,750 and ordered to pay £5,000 towards hearing costs.
O'Sullivan attended the hearing in person.
O'Sullivan was 24 points ahead in the sixth frame when he missed an attempted pot and immediately declared the match over.
He shook hands with Hendry and referee Jan Verhaas before walking out of the Barbican Centre arena in York.
'The Rocket' later released a statement in which he apologised both to Hendry and to the crowd.
