The Oireachtas Sub-Committee on the Abbylara Incident has today been visiting Abbeylara.
Chairman of the committee Mr Seán Ardagh told the media the reason for the visit was so that members of the committee could familiarise themselves with the scene before hearing evidence from witnesses this week.
The house where the siege and shooting happened has since been knocked down. Counsel for the Carthy family yesterday told the committee a neighbour would be able to give the committee markings of where all the original features were.
The committee decided against using any witnesses during the visit so as not to prejudice any evidence it will hear during the inquiry.
