A court granted bail of $125,000 today to former football star OJ Simpson, who faces criminal charges stemming from what police say was an armed robbery of his own sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel.
Simpson appeared in court at a hearing lasting about 10 minutes.
Simpson and three co-defendants face a total of 11 charges - including kidnapping, armed robbery and assault - that could send the 60-year-old athlete-turned-actor to prison for the rest of his life.
Simpson was arrested on Sunday and had been held without bail since then.
Wearing a blue jail uniform and handcuffs, Simpson furrowed his brow as the judge read the list of charges against him in a Las Vegas court today.
He showed little other emotion as the court appearance was televised live across America on several news channels.
He answered quietly in a hoarse voice and nodded as the judge laid out restrictions for his release. He did not enter a plea.
Simpson was arrested on Sunday and had been held without bail since then.
He will next appear in court for a status hearing on October 22nd.
Simpson was charged with double murder after his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson (35), and her friend, Ronald Goldman (25), were found stabbed and slashed to death in front of her Los Angeles home in 1994.
He was acquitted of murder in a Los Angeles criminal court in 1995, but two years later a civil court jury found him responsible for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million in damages to the victims' families.
