Journalist Con Houlihan has won an All Ireland Inspirational Life award for his 'unique and vocal insight into all aspects of Irish society'. Houlihan has enjoyed a career spanning more than 60 years.

The awards recognise the contribution of older people and are supported by BT, The Irish Timesand Vodafone.

Pat Kelleher who set up the North Longford Men's group in 2005, and the National Advocacy Perogramme Alliance were also winners. Further awards will be announced in September. Nominations can be made at irishtimes.com/events/inspirational.
