Gardaí have arrested one man in connection with the robbery of a security van in Coolock, Dublin, this afternoon.
The man is being held at Coolock garda station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
The robbery happened at around 1.30 pm at Donaghmeade Shopping Centre when three raiders drove a yellow JCB Teleporter, that was stolen from a Balbriggan building site last night, into the parked security van.
They then entered the van and stole a number of bags containing large amounts of cash, believed to be in the region of €500,000, before making their escape in a black car.
The men were unarmed according to official garda sources.
Gardaí believe they have since discovered the car in the Bayside Boulevard area of the city.
Nobody was injured in the raid.
Gardaí are appealing for anybody who may have seen the JCB last night or today, possibly in the Kilbarrack area, to contact them in Coolock at 01-6664200 or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111.
Any witnesses to the robbery, or anyone who was in Donaghmede Shopping Centre at the time, is also urged to make contact.
