Some of the leading figures from the online world are arriving in Ireland to take part in the Dublin Web Summit, which gets under way later today.

More than 400 people are expected to attend the event at Trinity College this evening.

Among the guests at the summit will be keynote speakers Craig Newmark, founder of classified advertising website Craigslist, and Matt Mullenweg, the man behind the popular online publishing platform, WordPress.

Also lined up to speak are former Iona chief executive Chris Horn, Wired editor-at-large Ben Hammersley, and Ciarán Bollard, chief executive of Irish-based music website Muzu.tv.

Registration for the event takes place at 5pm with Matt Mullenweg and Craig Newmark scheduled to talk between 7.30 and 8.30pm.

A discussion panel will address issues at the summit after the keynote speeches have been given.
