A 7.5 tonne electric truck has been bought by the Office of Public Works (OPW).
The truck, made by Smith Newton, is the first electric vehicle to be acquired by the OPW. It will be used for deliveries of furniture in and around Dublin.
The new electric vehicle has a zero emissions rating, a 120kw motor and is powered by lithium-ion phosphate batteries. It is to be charged from a point at OPW’s furniture division at Mountshannon Road, Kilmainham, Dublin.
