An order restraining eight named Travellers from trespassing on lands at Swords Business Park was issued to the Industrial Development Authority by the High Court yesterday.
Ms Justice Carroll also ordered that the defendants and any other persons acting in concert with them not reside, camp, park caravans or vehicles on lands, industrial estates or business parks belonging to the IDA in Co Dublin.
Mr Barry Fannin, legal executive with the IDA, said in an affidavit that he was informed the defendants had parked approximately 14 caravans and 10 motor vehicles on the site about Tuesday last. At present there were about 47 travellers residing on the site, including 23 children.
On being told they had no permission to park or remain there, some of the defendants replied that they would not leave until an injunction compelling them to leave was produced, he said.
It was the IDA's experience that, once an injunction was granted, the trespassers moved to other lands belonging to the agency in the locality.
