A Brittas youth who went on a £9,500 crime rampage was sentenced to 16 months in St Patrick's.

"He is obviously out of control," said Judge Gillian Hussey as she sentenced Wayne Keogh (17), of Glenareen, Brittas, Co Dublin. Keogh pleaded guilty to a series of offences at Kilmainham District Court yesterday.

He had burnt out four cars, two in Old Bawn on July 23rd, and two others in Rathcoole. Keogh had also stolen a laptop computer worth £3,750 in Brittas on January 23rd. Keogh was arrested on July 23rd in the yard of Tallaght Garda station, hiding under a car.

Solicitor Mr Terence Hanahoe said that Keogh had spent two years in Trinity House.
