At least 28 people died after a bus fell into an irrigation canal in central Pakistan today.
They said the death toll could rise as the bus, which plunged in the canal near the remote Bhakkar town in Pakistan's Punjab province, was believed to be carrying more than 40 people.
Divers were trying to find more bodies in the canal, they said.
Three people with minor injuries were treated at a local hospital, said an official at that hospital in Bhakkar, which lies 200 miles southwest of the capital, Islamabad.
