London - Animal welfare campaigners protested yesterday after new evidence that Pakistan was refusing to enforce the law against bear-baiting.
Investigators from the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) issued visual evidence that Pakistan was knowingly turning a blind eye to large-scale illegal bear-baiting events. This is despite repeated government promises that the law would be enforced against this bloodsport, where pairs of vicious dogs are unleashed against a tethered and toothless bear in a series of three-minute bouts.
