Seven Palestinian children were hurt by a stun grenade thrown by Israeli security forces into the courtyard of a Palestinian school in the divided West Bank town of Hebron today, witnesses said.

They said an Israeli border policeman threw the stun grenade into the courtyard as the elementary school students were leaving the school building.

The children, one of them suffering burns to the face, were taken to hospital by ambulance, they said. It was not clear how serious the injuries were.

The Israeli army said it was checking the report.
