Palestinian gunmen shot dead an Israeli motorist in the West Bank today, Israel Radio and rescue workers said, further weakening a shaky US brokered ceasefire.
The shooting came hours after Palestinian militants claimed responsibility for setting off two car bombs in an Israeli town near Tel Aviv earlier today. Four people were treated for shock after the bombings.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine said it carried out the bombings in retaliation for an Israeli helicopter gunship attack that killed three Islamic militants last night.
The violence threatened a fragile ceasefire brokered by US CIA director Mr George Tenet on June 13th.
