An Israeli helicopter missile strike killed a Palestinian man in the West Bank city of Hebron today, Palestinian witnesses said.
They said Jamil Jadallah, a known militant accused of killing Jewish settlers, was killed when Israeli missiles hit a house he was in.
Earlier this morning Israeli tanks and bulldozers entered the Palestinian autonomous zone at Arabeh near the town of Jenin in the north of the West Bank, sparking an exchange of gunfire which left two Palestinians wounded.
A dozen tanks protecting two bulldozers entered the village of Arabeh at dawn today. Another brief incursion had taken place there two months ago.
The Israeli unit surrounded the home of Mr Nabil Maghir, an Islamic Jihad activist sought by Israel, Palestinian security sources said.
Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for a shooting attack on Sunday at Hadera in the north of Israel in which four Israeli women were killed, along with the two gunmen, and 31 people were wounded.
