A Palestinian man was condemned to death by a security court in Gaza today for collaborating with Israel, the sixth such case in two weeks.
Mr Khaled al-Akka, 28, was found guilty of providing Israeli security forces with information that led to the killing of Mr Massud Ayad, a commander of Force 17, the elite guards of Palestinian leader Mr Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement.
The Palestinian officer died when an Israeli attack helicopter blew up his vehicle near the refugee camp of Jabaliya, in the northern Gaza Strip.
Five other men have been sentenced to die in the last two weeks by a Palestinian security court in Nablus in the West Bank.
Two Palestinians found guilty of collaboration were executed by a firing squad on January 13th. They were the first collaborators to be executed since the Palestinian Authority was set up in 1994.
Several other collaborators have since been condemned to die but their sentences - which have to be approved by Mr Arafat - have not been carried out.
Three other Palestinians suspected of collaborating have been gunned down the Israeli-occupied territories since the beginning of the month by masked assailants.
