Trainer Ted Walsh today decided not to run Papillon in the Whitbread Gold Cup on Saturday.
Walsh had been concerned that the ground at Sandown Park might be too soft for the 2000 Grand National winner, and also wanted to carry out further checks on the horse`s well-being.
On arrival at Fairyhouse this afternoon he said: "Papillon doesn`t run in the Whitbread."
Papillon has been stabled at Di Haine`s yard in Newmarket since finishing fourth in the Grand National.

The current foot-and-mouth regulations prevent the horse returning to Ireland for the time being.
Papillon is now likely to stay at Newmarket for a few weeks, before returning home as soon as he is allowed to.
