Bordeaux - Accused French Nazi collaborator, Mr Maurice Papon (87), was taken to hospital with double pneumonia yesterday, and justice sources said his trial for crimes against humanity is likely to be suspended.
Mr Papon is accused of ordering the arrest of 1,560 Jews for deportation from the south-west Bordeaux region when he was a senior official of the collaborationist Vichy regime during the second World War. Mr Papon underwent triple bypass surgery last year and the five-week-old trial has been interrupted several times for treatment of his various ailments.
