Bogota - The outgoing US Ambassador, Mr Myles Frechette, took a parting shot at Colombian President Ernesto Samper yesterday, calling him a virtual liar and saying more "hard times" were in store for US-Colombian relations.
Mr Frechette, who is due to leave Colombia this weekend, spoke of Mr Samper and his scandal-plagued government in farewell newspaper interviews. The outspoken envoy said there was still "deep concern" in Washington about the $6 million in Cali cartel drug money which allegedly financed Mr Samper's 1994 election campaign.
