London - The Former Hong Kong governor, Mr Chris Patten, is suing a company owned by media giant Mr Rupert Murdoch because it dropped plans to publish his memoirs, Mr Patten's lawyer said yesterday.
The lawyer, Mr David Hooper, said Mr Murdoch was perceived to have interfered with the book at publisher HarperCollins before the firm gave it the axe. "We are suing for damages for breach of contract," he said.
Mr Patten has signed up with Macmillan, and his memoirs, East and West, should be in bookshops in September, a spokesman said.
