A divorce case dubbed the maintenance battle of the century, in which the ex-husband of Pablo Picasso's daughter was claiming an estimated £250 million has been settled out of court.

Businessman Rafael Lopez-Cambil withdrew his claim against Paloma Picasso (49), on the eve of the court hearing, officials at London's High Court said. The couple were divorced last year.

Paloma, who inherited a large slice of her artist father's fabulous wealth and made more money in the cosmetics industry, is said to be worth in the region of £500 million. LopezCambil was reported to be seeking half of that fortune. No details have been revealed of the terms of the settlement.
