Raisa Gorbachev (67), wife of former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev, is seriously ill and is being treated in Germany where her husband is by her side, Gorbachev's spokesman said yesterday.
Michael Douglas has proposed to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones, the Sun newspaper reported yesterday. According to the tabloid, , Douglas asked Zeta Jones to marry him on a break in Spain recently. The couple plan to announce their engagement with a party at his Malibu home on September 25th - the birthday they share. She will be 30, he will turn 55.
Sporty Spice, or Mel C, has blown away the Girl Power image of the Spice Girls by revealing her true feelings about the other band members. In the new issue of Q magazine, Sporty said Posh's wedding was "over the top", some days she "doesn't even bother" to talk to Scary and she sees the band as little more than a hobby.
Admitting she hoped the ex-spice girl Geri's Schizophonic album would be terrible, she dismisses her former friend as untalented, musically hollow and "cotton wool".
