Mark Philippoussis and Anna Kournikova have been forced to withdraw from next week's US Open due to injury.
Philippoussis pulled out because of complications with his injured knee.
The Australian, who had knee surgery four months ago, had been hoping to make his return to competitive tennis before the last Grand Slam of the year.
Kournikova pulled out due to a lingering stress fracture in her right foot.

She sustained the injury during a practice session in late February and has played only one match since.
