Troubled broadcaster ITV has admitted that advertising revenues have plummeted again.
The firm's flagship channel ITV1 - home to Coronation Streetand Grease Is The Word- saw the amount of money coming in from commercials slide by 9.6 per cent.
ITV has struggled to compete with the growth of digital channels in recent years and suffered from poor ratings for some of its high profile new programmes.
It has also been hit by a scandal over premium rate phone lines earlier this year. The broadcaster said it had seen a sharp fall in the amount of money it takes from premium-rate quiz and game show phone-ins.
The 20 per cent decline for March and April came after the television industry was hit by allegations relating to the apparent duping of viewers.
ITV said all its current output had been cleared by an independent review but warned it was unclear when consumer confidence would return.
The broadcaster said revenues from ITV Play, which runs during the night on ITV1 and ITV2, were running at a significant reduction from 2006.
