PLANS for the construction of the tallest building in the State at Salthill in Galway are now in doubt following the revelation that a consortium is proposing to build an Irish diaspora centre in Dublin.
A diaspora centre is a vital element of the proposed 25-storey tower in Salthill, and the developer of the project, Dr Bill Grealish, has admitted the project would be in serious jeopardy if the Dublin centre goes ahead.
The 80m-high Galway project, estimated to cost £70 million, would involve the reclaiming of five acres of land from the sea.
