GERMANY:A 77-year-old Berlin playboy is suing a 19-year-old woman, accusing her of age discrimination for refusing to sleep with him. Derek Scallyin Berlin
Rolf Eden is a well-known figure around town, his white suits, white Rolls Royce and leathery tanned face a fixture since the West Berlin days. Like mullets and leather waistcoats, Eden continues to thrive in the united capital, an ageing anachronism.
He claims to have slept with up to 3,000 women in his time, mostly picked up in his Ku'damm night club "Big Eden". The West Berlin club was notorious for its mirrored walls, ceiling and floor, and its speciality act, where a horse disrobed strippers with his teeth.
After selling the club in 2002, the elderly lothario and Viagra enthusiast changed his will, offering a €250,000 payout to the woman who wakes up in bed next to his corpse.
His latest publicity gag began last month when he approached 19-year-old Katharina in a bar with the pick-up line: "Listen, you're so pretty but we both have the same problem: I don't have your phone number and you don't have mine."
She laughed, he ordered champagne and the two began chatting.
"Naturally we moved on to my place," said Eden to Bild. "I played piano for her, she drank more champagne."
When the 77- year-old 70s throwback finally made his move, Katharina interrupted: "Please don't be mad, but you're too old for me." Eden said he was "shattered" but escorted the woman home. Still, Katharina's remarks haunted him for two weeks.
"Now I've pressed charges against her at the state prosecutor's office for age discrimination," he told Bild. "After all, we have an anti-discrimination law."
The state prosecutor's office declined to comment on the case yesterday.
