A flurry of late wheeling and dealing has marked the passing of the Premiership transfer window which closed at 5 p.m. this evening. Clubs are now prohibited from bolstering their squads until January.
Evertonmanager David Moyes was the main mover and shaker on deadline day, signing four players for the Merseyside club, including Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane.
Former Toffee's striker Francis Jeffers has moved back to Goodison on loan until the end of the season while Kilbane, Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn and Motherwell starlet James McFadden have been signed on a permanent basis.
Kilbane has moved from First Division Sunderland in a deal worth Stg£1 million.
Glenn Hoddle has secured the services of Stephane Dalmat who signed a season-long loan deal with Tottenhamafter passing a medical at White Hart Lane.
The 24-year-old, described by Hoddle as player who has got a "bit of everything", moves to Spurs after struggling to make an impact at Inter Milan. Dalmat made just 11 appearances for Inter last season and 16 the campaign before that in his second spell at the club following a season at Paris St Germain.
Charlton defender Paul Konchesky also joins Spurs on a one-month loan deal. As part of the deal central defender Chris Perry has moved to The Valley for the same period.
Leedsboss Peter Reid has added to his catalogue of loan captures with the signings of Marseille striker Cyril Chapuis and AC Milan defender Roque Junior.
Chapuis, 24, has signed on loan until the end of the season after passing his medical. He joins Marseille team-mates Salomon Olembe and Lamine Sakho at Elland Road.
Roque Junior, meanwhile, was granted a work permit by a three-man appeals panel after he had initially been refused last week by the Home Office
The Brazilian World Cup winner, who celebrated his 27th birthday 24 hours before joining Leeds, will join his new team-mates after first playing in two international matches against Colombia and Ecuador.
Portsmouthhave snatched two players from under the noses of their Premiership rivals. First Harry Redknapp swooped to secure the services of Czech Republic goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek ahead of Wolves.
And he followed that move up by beating fellow top-flight new-boys Leicester - and Wigan - to snap up West Brom striker Jason Roberts on loan.
North of the border, Michael Gray has completed a four-month loan move to Celtic. The former Sunderland skipper will join Martin O'Neill's side until the end of December
Elsewhere, Chelseabrought to an end the biggest spending spree the game has ever seen when they confirmed Claude Makelele as their final summer signing.
The club ended weeks of speculation when they completed a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Makelele ahead of the transfer deadline. That deal takes their overall spending since Roman Abramovich took over to more than £111m.
