Belgrade - The Montenegrin Prime Minister, Mr Milo Djukanovic (35), won his republic's presidency yesterday in a triumph for economic reformers over former communists loyal to the Yugoslav President, Mr Slobodan Milosevic.
His defeat of the outgoing Mr Momir Bulatovic, a Milosevic protege, set off hours of rejoicing in the streets of the capital, Podgorica. Election officials said Mr Djukanovic had a lead of more than 6,000 votes with 98 per cent of Sunday's poll counted. - (Reuters)
