Police have been called to deal with "aggressive picketing" at a tube station as the London Underground strike causes travel chaos.

Officers were called to Edgware Road tube station when managers complained about "aggressive picketing".

London Underground is at a standstill as a strike by rail workers causes travel chaos.

Managers have confirmed no trains will run during the rush hour because of the 24-hour walkout by members of the Rail Maritime and Transport Union and Aslef.

Picket lines have been mounted outside tube stations across London by workers protesting at an imposed 3 per cent pay rise.

Services ground to a halt within a few hours of the stoppage and are not expected to return to normal until tomorrow morning.

A normal weekday bus service is operating and passengers were asked to be patient and allow extra time for their journeys into work.
