Militant Basque separatist group ETA said it planted two bombs in San Sebastian overnight that Spanish police destroyed in controlled explosions early today.
A police spokesman said the devices, each containing two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of explosives, were placed in plastic bags in front of separate branches of the Banco Guipuzcoano.
The first bomb was destroyed in the early hours in a controlled explosion that caused damage to nearby businesses and cars parked in the surrounding area.
The second explosion caused no damage, the spokesman said.
Police said an anonymous caller gave a telephone warning saying the bombs had been planted by ETA.
The Banco Guipuzcoano was the target of an ETA car bomb attack in June when a blast caused moderate damage but no casualties.
