Police in London said today they are to investigate death threats made against Arsenal defender Sol Campbell on the official Tottenham website.
The threats appeared on a message board on the site following the England international's controversial move to bitter local rivals Arsenal on a free transfer this summer.
Officers from London's Metropolitan Police Force have interviewed club officials and staff working for the site providers while the message board has been shut down for a week.
A Tottenham spokesman told the Evening Standard: "Scotland Yard [police headquarters] told us they were interested in the threats contained on the website and in who was posting them".
Tottenham fans abused Campbell in Wednesday's testimonial match for former Tottenham manager Bill Nicholson at White Hart Lane against Italian side Fiorentina.
