Police launched a triple murder investigation today after finding the bodies of three people believed to have been tied up and then shot dead in a north London apartment.

The bodies of Lorna Morrison (34), her sister Connie (27), and their mother's partner Noel Patterson (62), were found by a family member on a bedroom floor at the house in the Wembley area yesterday.

Police said it was likely they had been shot in the head.

The sisters' mother, Evelyn Daley, a care worker, was out working when the murders are thought to have taken place on Thursday night.

Lorna Morrison's nine-month-old baby Christanio was in the apartment at the time. The baby boy was taken to hospital but was said to be unharmed.

Police said they were keeping an open mind about the motive for the murders but they wanted to speak to three youths seen entering the apartment block on Thursday.

Detectives said they were not ruling out the possibility the motive might have been burglary or robbery.

"This is an horrific crime, with a family devastated by a triple murder," said Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson. "We must trace the people responsible as soon possible."
