Police in Belfast are investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman which happened on the outskirts of West Belfast this morning.
The woman was attacked by a man after getting out of a taxi at Juniper Rise in the Twinbrook area at around 1.20am, police said. Detectives want to speak to the taxi driver who brought the victim to the scene, but stressed that they did not suspect him of any involvement in the offence. They are also attempting to establish what happened to the woman's black leather handbag, which had a silver clasp on the front and was stolen from her during the ordeal. Any witnesses, or those with information about the attack, are urged to contact detectives in Lisburn.
