Police were tonight investigating the suspicious death of a man in his 40s.
His body was discovered in a house in Tower Street, off the Newtownards Road in East Belfast, at around 4.45pm.
Police said three people were being questioned about the discovery.
Local sources did not believe the death of the man was paramilitary-linked or sectarian.
The house where his body was discovered is near the Belfast Institute of Higher Education college, known as Rupert Stanley College.
Ulster Unionist councillor Jim Rodgers said there had been too much tragedy in East Belfast in recent months. "Although the circumstances in this incident are not clear, a life has been lost and that is sad for anyone connected with him," he said.
"There has been a lot of tragedy in this part of the city in recent times.
"There have also been murders and it would seem life has become cheap in this part of the city."
