Police in Derry have seized two firearms, cannabis and contraband cigarettes after searches of houses this morning.

Police in Derry have seized two firearms, cannabis and contraband cigarettes after searches of houses this morning.

A PSNI spokesman said houses in Garvagh, Dungiven and Feeney were searched as part of an operation investigating organised criminal activity in Derry and mid-Ulster.

Two firearms, quantities of cannabis and herbal cannabis, contraband cigarettes and documentation were seized.

Some £27,000 in cash and cheques were also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
