Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller was injured and several people accompanying him were also hurt when a government helicopter carrying them made an emergency landing tonight.
Government spokesman Mr Marcin Kaszuba said Mr Miller was not seriously injured in the accident which was probably caused by technical problems with the engine.
Mr Miller was due to meet the Taoiseach and the President in Dublin tomorrow.
"Thanks be to God, the prime minister left the helicopter on his own feet," said Mr Kaszuba.
Police said Mr Miller was taken to hospital after the helicopter made an emergency landing in Gora Kalwaria, some 20 km from Warsaw.
Public television said as many as 10 people could have been hurt, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Mr Miller was returning in foggy weather from a visit to south-western Poland in a 30-year-old Soviet-era Mi-8 helicopter, the same as was used by Pope John Paul during his trips to Poland, it said.
Mr Miller was travelling with his chief political adviser Aleksandra Jakubowska, a press officer and his body guards.
