MIRIAM LORD'S WEEK: THE DÁIL technical group had its first split in Dublin on Thursday night when Shelbourne supporter Finian McGrath came up against Wexford Youths mentor Mick Wallace in Tolka Park.
Finian, who was on the terraces for the Leinster Cup tie, spotted Mick in the dug-out and immediately went down to welcome him to the northside.
The encounter on the pitch didn’t go well for Deputy Wallace. Shels beat Wexford Youths by four goals to one. And Finian’s night was complete when he was presented with a Shelbourne jersey.
Still, Mick is a happy soul. It’s probably something to do with all the fruit and vegetables he eats, the red wine and the sex.
He was the subject of the Lifestyle Q&A in this week's Irish TimesHEALTHplus supplement.
The TD revealed: “The thing that makes my body relax the most is sex. Red wine makes me relax, or reading . . .” As for his unhealthiest habit? “It’s probably driving when I’m tired. I don’t sleep as much as I should . . .”
Hardly surprising.
But at least now we know why he looks so dishevelled when he arrives in the Dáil.
