THE MAIN business of Dáil Éireann will be conducted through Irish on March 7th, as part of Irish Language Week.
It’ll be a doodle for the Taoiseach, and the usual confusing dander for Gerry Adams, but who will take questions for the technical group on the day? Our money is on Joe Higgins.
After Leaders’ Questions, Micheál Martin might hand over to his deputy Éamon Ó Cuív, who will be only too happy to talk away during the order of business and during statements to be taken on an issue other than the Gaeilge. Ditto for Eamon Gilmore.
Ó Cuív moved into the late Brian Lenihan’s office this week. It had remained vacant since Brian’s death last year. The first annual Brian Lenihan Memorial Address takes place this evening at Trinity College at 6pm.
