Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats are neck-and-neck with the alternative coalition of Fine Gael and Labour, according to an opinion poll to be published tomorrow.
The survey carried out by Lansdowne Research shows the two main government options both have 39 per cent support.
The poll was carried out among 1,000 voters in 100 locations around the State on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It will be published in the Irish Examinertomorrow. It has a margin of error of plus or minus three points.
The state of the parties in the poll is: Fianna Fáil down 2 to 37 per cent; Fine Gael up 2 to 26 per cent; Labour up 3 to 13 per cent, PDs down 4 to 2 per cent; Green Party unchanged at 6 per cent; Sinn Fein down 1 to 8 per cent and Independents and Others up 3 to 9 per cent.
The last poll conducted by Lansdowne was in September, meaning it is not possible to gauge the affect of the issues surrounding the Taoiseach's personal finances on opinion.
