Vatican City - Pope John Paul II is suffering from 'flu, which has forced him to cancel his audiences until Thursday, ANSA news agency reported yesterday.

Vatican spokesman, Mr Joaquin Navarro, said earlier that the pope "has flu and will not hold his scheduled audiences."

ANSA said the Pope did not have a temperature and there was no reason for concern.

On Sunday, John Paul II told the crowd during the traditional prayers that he had caught a cold.
