Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is considering a bid for Leeds United and Republic of Ireland star Ian Harte.
Redknapp is in the market for a left back as he is without the services of Matthew Taylor.
The former West Ham chief has been linked with a move for Argentinian defender Juan Pablo Sorin but admitted he is also interested in Harte.
"I do like Ian Harte but at the moment I don't know if anything is going to happen there," Redknapp said. "I am looking around at the moment for a left-back and seeing what comes up."
He added: "I have not yet spoken to Leeds or even to Peter Reid, who is a good friend of mine, but I would imagine he (Harte) is on decent money at the club and they would want a fee for him."
Harte is thought to be out of favour at Leeds. He played a reserve game against Harrogate Town last night.
