A murdered Chinese woman found in north Belfast may have been on a visit from Dublin, police in Belfast said today. Detectives trying to identify the murdered woman said she may have been known
as Tina.
Her body was discovered in the boot of a car which was intercepted in north Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Police also said they believed there was no link to any Far Eastern crime
gangs.
The woman is believed to have travelled to Belfast by bus on the bank holiday Monday, May 31. She is thought to have left Dublin at 6pm and arrived in Belfast just before 9pm.
Police renewed their appeal to anyone who may have known her to contact them to formally identify the woman. She is believed to be in her early 20s, 5ft 4ins and slim, with shoulder-length black hair in a centre parting. She also has a small birthmark just above her knee.
The body of the victim was found stuffed into a bin bag in the back of a Ford Escort parked at an Antrim Road filling station. Detectives have been questioning the two men arrested at the scene.
An interpreter has been brought in to assist police questioning the men, both also Chinese.
