The death of a 20-month-old infant girl in Cork early yesterday is still being treated as suspicious by Garda authorities.

Garda sources in Cork said last night that a post-mortem examination had revealed that the injuries to the infant were consistent with a fall from a landing to the end of a stairwell. Inquiries are continuing.

The child, Lourde Dorgan, of Redforge, Old Mallow Road, Cork, was admitted to Cork University Hospital at 4 a.m. suffering from severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at 8 a.m. yesterday.
