HIGHER AND ORDINARY JUNIOR CERT TECHNOLOGY:THE LAYOUT of yesterday's technology exams drew praise. The graphics on the higher and ordinary-level papers were excellent, said ASTI representative Séamus Walshe. "It's a very good thing to see as it encourages students to be clear and careful with their own work," he said.
Yesterday’s paper was the second part of the technology exam. Earlier in the year, students completed a project which accounted for 50 per cent of the higher-level grade. The project was worth 60 per cent of the grade for ordinary-level students.
At higher level, the short questions were described as fresh. “There was a wide choice on the paper,” Mr Walshe commented.
The longer questions in section B were similar to those in previous years according to Mr Walshe.
Section C, in which students select one question related to technology and society, offered a question on a hybrid car.
Ordinary-level students faced a more testing exam than usual, Mr Walshe said.
