The Presbyterian Church's plans to mark the bicentenary of the 1798 rebellion, and the United Irishmen, will include a major lecture and the republication of important documents.
Dr John McKee, joint secretary of the Presbyterian Historical Society, said they felt it important to mark the event "so that people could learn something of Irish history but also judge for themselves the rights and wrongs of the United Irishmen".
The historian Dr A.T.Q. Stewart will deliver the Robert Allen memorial lecture on "1798 and the Modesty of History". The lecture is to take place at Union College, Belfast, on May 7th next.
